Condolences Michael, and to Halstead's many friends and family. I can't remember where and when, but certain it was through you, that I met with him. I had no idea at the time he was this icon of a photographer. He most certainly didn't project any of that. Undoubtedly, what he and I can think of a few others with photojournalism background demonstrated was how to levitate videojournalism and self filmmaking - by de facto acting as DOPs/ cinematographers.
It's becoming more prevalent now, though still limiting, but that's a legacy I recognise. "Follow the photojournalists", I would tell wannabe self shooters/ mojos/ and Vjs. May his name live on
