Driving social tech for better equity; here’s one solution

When Rob was 4-years-of-age and social media was about to take off his relationship with tech was one modelled on how benign and socially profitable it was for all of us. Tech in the guise of social platforms would unite everyone. There was no downside. In taking this photo we asked permission. That social etiquette has largely atrophied; not anymore. Everyone is fair game.

Tech would be a dominant driver in our social, cultural and moral habits. At our most vulnerable in Covid isolation we generally took stock. By then many people had began to re-evaluate their relationship with tech, from how data was being mined for profit, to apps that seemingly made life easier but hid social consequences e.g. Twitter ( X) and trolling.

Models of behaviour appear delineated across age and demographics ( the generation gap) ; one group doesn’t get the other.

What if we could facilitate bringing generations together?
What if we could find the stories that show resets with tech?
What if some intractable issues were looked at from the combination of emerging techs and experts coming together?
What if that was a way to learn in universities and colleges?

This was part of the ethos that over a year would yield a project I’m so proud to create and share; emerging talent with experts looking for solutions and sharing them. That’s why Media Hyphenates was created. To read about their experiences you can here and here

See you there!
