I’m usually asked what is Cinema Journalism, to which I can refer you to several links in my medium posts under @viewmagazine.
In essence, it is videojournalism on steroids. It is what videojournalism was originally before it became normalised into traditional journalism.
Under innovative videojournalism, Cinema Journalism, no media is off limits. A practitioner becomes privy to all forms of media arefacts dependent on the audience and end goal. Tha’s why innovative videojournalist Rav Vadgama from ITV is known as the ‘Human Swiss Knife’.
If television was modernism, videojournalism was its postmodernism form — something I spell out in texts to be published. Hence drone, mobile, google glass, Satellite journalism — all fall under videojournalism.
However, the industry has largely misinterpreted videojournalism, which I spell out in my book.

The project was brought together by Talk Journalism, who introduced me to he hotel’s management.
It was the last day of my stay and we only had 2 hours, but I was determined to portray something of the hotel where I had stayed for three days — all expenses paid.
In any project, I start off with ‘what’s the story?’ The Fairmont has several stories, but one that caught my attention were the series of archways carved by different cultural groups.
The key words that influence my approach are: memories, poetry, and imprinting. How do we make something memorable? How do words and images work together to form a cohesive pattern ( poetry) and what images can I leave on the audience?
