Alas, cinema journalism is not about sensationalising news. On the contrary CJs have an acute understanding of events and how they can be produced. Sensationalising happens without any training of video, mobile or cinema journalism. Robert Drew, the founding father of Cinema Verite/ Direct cinema 1960s squared that argument way back, and today sensationalising is evident.
Cinema, and there is no one essence, in this framing isn't about fictionalising events, but about how best to portray meaning to the audience. You see that in any case with photojournalists.
It's not unusual for new forms of langue to yield concerns. Wannabe Cjs do as they please, just as a builder with no formal training, or a would-be Dr with no credible medical certificate is dangerous. This below may or may not help.
