The future of documentary from the past via AI
It has the potential to revolutionise documentary, historical films and personal essays. This is my father aged 25-years in London, having travelled from the Gold Coast in 1955.
Except it’s amongst several AI generated images, so convincing my family requested a copy and exclaimed how they’d never seen these photos before.
As an academic, filmmaker and artist, based on mixed research, ethnography (global cultural research) Action Research, Qualitative, (based on letters and correspondence) Memory and reflection (Donald Schon) I recreated scenes and his presence in 1955.
There’s huge interest as it lends itself to resurrecting films that are personal based on those, like my father, who have passed away. As an academic ethical integrity is paramount which is part of the work being delivered, and involves a 19th century framework, alongside a new terminology to support this approach.
