The Power of Trust: broken down in 3 min video.
What’s one of the most valuable human qualities? A student asked if she could come and see me. She asked me a question that had me reaching memories way old, when at Sunday service at my college the pastor spoke about trust.
We all have it he said. You trust the chair you’re going to sit on, the phone that it’ll work, and that the person you’re speaking to will take you at your word. Ah! that last sentence is fulfilled with conditions, and in our world today has a currency.
Trust is everything. We accomplish the unbelievable, pursue the unreachable, say the most “ridiculous” because we trust. The career we’re building, in which we hope for the next break, or the opportunity to do the thing naysayers said we can’t do, is all about trust. It’s beautiful, and can be easily abused.
Would you trust me if I said, I could help you create immersive stories, solve problems using a combination of life and start-up skills, coach you to get closer to that goal.
No! And of course. In today’s world, we’ve learned to be circumspect. But the student did, because she had seen this video.
Trust is earned, not given. We earn it through experience, building relationships, through what others say about us, through honesty and being transparent.
Trust and Innovation are intricately connected. To innovate means risks. And even when we fail if we’re honest, and can self reflect, we can win back trust.
Be kind.
Let’s see if we can make people trust you, I said.
