What is AUTHENTIC AI as real vision in an Artificial World?
Artifical Intelligence combined with creativity, storytelling and a zeal to correct the past for a better future is a theme a fiend and I share and that made us think why not pitch for a fire-side chat at SXSW London.
And so here we are.
In the chat we’ll be discussing the blind side of AI’s Black Box . Is it really Pandora’s Box? We’ll also cover the following below with a Call to Action.
* Educating Future Generations with AI Histories
* Creating The World’s First AI Trust Index
* Recreating Lost Archives Through AI
Background
Seven years ago I came across Michele D’Acosta, an amazing documentary/film. She was the producer behind the acclaimed film Biggie & Tupac (2002) alongside Nick Blomfield.
Seven years ago we met when she was one of the UK’s 57 TV and film and TV experts brought together for a cool photo-lineup influenced by the iconic Jazz photo “A Great Day in Harlem”.
Recently we started chatting. Michele is now a leading AI filmmaker and artist and our journal Representology is set to publish an article around her and other amazing people of colour in the AI world, including the extraordinary Malik Afegbua behind the Elders Series.
Through speaking we realised so many coincidences. We both had our TV breaks on the groundbreaking BBC 2 Reportage (Deff II) some thirty plus years ago. We’re both passionate about innovation in storytelling. We appear to have both been intrigued by AI storytelling through finding out about our parents. Michele through her mother, me via my father. And, both of us had our AI films shown at the first AI Film and Arts Festival in the US.
We’d love to share our findings with you. You can vote by going to SXSW London voting page https://lnkd.in/eqsqesih. You’ll be required to register which will take seconds and you’ll find our session on or about page 4. Thank you!
SESSION TEXT
“The future of the AI-driven web must reflect the diversity of the world it serves,” declared the web’s inventor Sir Tim Berners-Lee in his 2024 open letter. Without addressing this diversity, AI algorithms risk sidelining the voices and stories of generations — coding them out of the future. Enter Authentic AI: a groundbreaking project redefining how AI creates for, about, and all groups, including people of colour.
Dr. David Dunkley Gyimah, an internationally acclaimed journalist, AI filmmaker, and innovation pioneer interviews leading AI filmmaker Michele D’Acosta, an award-winning documentary filmmaker and AI specialist. Collectively, as acclaimed storytelling visionaries, they are shaping a future where technology truly serves all.
